Things you need
1. Crate.
Choose a crate for your puppy. Crate training is a
powerful method to train your puppy, but it is not required. If you do
decide to crate train your puppy, choose a crate the puppy can stand up
in and lie down with his legs extended. Also PLEASE make sure it has a floor - No wired floor - Make sure that there is a soft
bed inside the crate as well. Two door kennel works great. Consider it to be big enough for the puppy when he/she grows. Pugs generally can weigh between 14-22 pounds. Our pugs love Playpens as puppies, we personally use the Iris pet pen from Amazon.

2. Puppy Pads.
All
of our puppies are started on Washable Puppy Pads for potty training. We believe
it's best for puppies not to go in grassy area's until he/she has
completed all series of DAPP vaccine generally done at 6-8, 10-12 & 12 -14
weeks of age. A booster along with Rabies is generally done between 16-20 weeks of age. If you don't wish to wash any then a non-scented regular disposable puppy pads works for puppies. Remember puppies aren't usually protected from Parvo, and Distemper until 5-21 days after third vaccine. Keep away from parks! We personally use Kooltail washable pads from Amazon

Try to avoid highly scented pads. Pugs are known for allergies in the pug breed.

3. Choosing the right food.
Our puppies currently start out on Blue Grain-Free in Kibble. Blue bag. Each litter and puppy is different. We don't force them to eat something they do not like. We will list the food any current litter likes when they are 6 weeks of age so you will know what to start them on, or to use while you mix 25/50 to change to your preferred food of choice.
*Pugs usually develops allergies when older and may need a higher grade food. Our Local Pet Valu will assist you in making the right food choice, or on the web www.Amazon.com / www.Chewy.com have some great options also. It's truly best to have the food delivered where you aren't exposing the puppy to other animals until he/she gains better immunity.

This is a current picture of the food we normally used. Update: February 2020 our vet has advised us that Grain-Free may not be the best option for puppies if not needed.Try the Life-Protection instead.

4. Bowls.
I
do not recommend plastic puppy bowls as they do not fully get cleaned. I
always use something I can sanitize often to keep bacteria and viruses
out. Glass, or Stainless.

5. Shampoo.
I use all natural hypoallergenic puppy shampoo. Since Pugs are sensitive and have allergies I have found this to be the best shampoo.
*If under 12 weeks of age the best thing to use for fleas is Dawn Dish Liquid (Blue/Original). Do your research on this and you will see it's the safest way to treat.

6. Harness or Collar?
We recommend Harness for start. Every Pug is different. I found it easier to start mine on a Harness then move to Collar once older and learned to walk without pulling.
Reason:
We do not want to cause Collapsed Trachea, or Eye Injuries by pulling!

1. Purchase Exam.
We highly recommend all buyers to schedule an appointment for a Purchase Exam in case our vet may have missed something during a Fecal Exam. It's best to take in a Fresh Fecal for it to be examined.
2. Obedience Training Course.
Once your puppy has had all vaccines (+Kennel Cough & Rabies in must cases) he/she can start puppy class. This is a great way to help train our puppy with simple demands, and also for your puppy to spend time with you. Search online for a class near you. (Most petsmart offers basic classes).
3. If you do not plan to breed we recommend for your pug to have a full vet checked prior to having him/her fixed. Please make sure your vet knows the breed well as sometimes surgeries can be fatal with Pugs.

Introducing a puppy
Introducing a puppy
1. Speak to children about a new puppy.
Before bringing a new puppy home it's best to make sure everyone has discussed a puppy and is fully prepared for a life-long commitment of caring for a puppy from feeding, to poop pickup, to old age.
*Teach them to care for a puppy. Be Gentle.

Vitamins
www.NuVet.com is what we have been using since 2016. Great results! However, do your research there may be more vitamins out there over-counter and not via internet/delivery. We do require most of our puppies to stay on NuVet for the first year after that you may change vitamins.
